“Ecumenical Follies” Update

Anglican “Vespers” in Saint Peter’s:
Another false exhibition of “unity” that does not exist.

The joke is on the Catholic Church

I am here in Rome to join The Fatima Center’s Rapid Response Team in order to bear witness against the latest in the endless series of ecumenical atrocities that have followed the Second Vatican Council and its injection of the paralyzing virus of “ecumenism” into the Church.

I am referring to the event to take place today — March 13 — at the very altar of Saint Peter, beneath the very Chair of Peter in the very heart of the visible Catholic Church: Saint Peter’s Basilica. There a group of Anglican ministers will desecrate that sacred place by performing their equivalent of Catholic Vespers (which they call Evensong). This, evidently, is what Pope Bergoglio deems appropriate for the anniversary of his election as a successor of Peter.  What would St. Peter think?  The question answers itself.

By the time this column appears online, the sacrilege will have been perpetrated, and I will relate what I witnessed in Tuesday’s column.  For now, some background to the sorry spectacle:

The above photograph depicts Pope Bergoglio having a good laugh with some Anglicans at All Saints Anglican “Church” in Rome, during his visit on February 26 — the first ever by a Pope to an Anglican “parish.” The video of the event, proudly on display by the Anglican Centre of Rome, shows Bergoglio participating in a joint liturgy with Anglican “priests” and “bishops.”

The scare quotes in the preceding paragraph are there to make the point that the Anglicans have neither a church, nor parishes, nor priests, nor bishops. As Pope Leo XIII declared infallibly in his Bull Apostolicae Curae, which is mysteriously omitted from the Vatican archive of his papal Bulls:

“Wherefore, strictly adhering, in this matter, to the decrees of the Pontiffs, Our Predecessors, and confirming them most fully, and, as it were, renewing them by Our authority, of Our own initiative and certain knowledge, We pronounce and declare that ordinations carried out according to the Anglican rite have been, and are, absolutely null and utterly void.”

As the Anglicans have no valid priesthood or episcopacy, they can have no Church, properly speaking, as even John Paul II taught in Dominus Iesus: “the ecclesial communities which have not preserved the valid Episcopate and the genuine and integral substance of the Eucharistic mystery, are not Churches in the proper sense…

What the Anglicans have, rather, is a merely human organization, a kind of club, founded 500 years ago by a rebellious king who wanted a divorce from his first wife and, in order to get it, made himself head of what is now called “the Church of England,” thus sending all of England down the path of schism and heresy from which it has never recovered.

Today the “Anglican Communion” exhibits the spiritual and moral wreckage of a human organization that has drifted with the tide of history, bereft of the protection of the Holy Ghost against error. Its original “Book of Common Prayer” and Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion are rife with heresy, including the denial of the papal primacy and the constant teaching of the Magisterium as a source of authority alongside the Bible, the denial of the existence of seven sacraments, the denial of the existence of Purgatory, and the Lutheran error sola fide — salvation by fiducial faith alone without regard to good works. The initial path of heresy has led today, inevitably, to the purported ordination of women and of practicing homosexuals.

The moral teaching of the “Anglican Communion” is a mockery of God and His law: not only the original error of divorce, but contraception, abortion, sodomy and “gay marriage” have all found acceptance in the “Anglican Communion.”

So decrepit has the “Anglican Communion” become that Anglican clergy and laity have left it en masse to become Catholics, joining the “ordinariates” established by Benedict XVI, wherein former Anglican ministers are instructed in the Catholic faith and then validly ordained as priests (thus putting the lie to the false ecumenical notion that they were valid ministers of Christ before their conversion).

Why does Pope Bergoglio — in line with John Paul II, one must say — continue to prop up the decadent and dying “Anglican Communion” by lending the dignity of the papal office to its mere liturgical pageantry and faux clerics, while ignoring its gross heresy and immorality? Why has the human element of the Church abruptly abandoned the constant teaching of the Church that, as Pius XI declared only 37 years before Vatican II: “the union of Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it, for in the past they have unhappily left it”?

Consider it one of the mysteries of iniquity addressed by the Virgin in Her message/warning, commonly known as the Third Secret of Fatima.

More from Rome tomorrow.
