The Fatima Challenge

Taking Shape as Historic Event

With each passing day, the war against the Catholic Church is waged with increasing intensity. Pope Benedict XVI, despite his determined action to address the scandal of sexual abuse of the young by the Catholic clergy, is under relentless attack by the secular media. (See:

No matter how unfair and partisan these attacks are, they would have no basis in fact if the crisis in the Church were not real and extreme.

So widespread are the incidents of priests molesting adolescent boys, and so pandemic the ineffectual response of the complacent, and sometimes complicit, bishops, that the enemies of the Church need not look far for weapons to use against most any member of the hierarchy, from the Pope on down.

Can this situation be understood as anything other than a manifestation of the “diabolical disorientation” about which Sister Lucy warned the Church?

And the moral corruption of too many of the clergy is accompanied by a doctrinal corruption so grave that the Holy Father has called for a “hermeneutic of continuity” to bring Church teaching back in line with defined dogma, from which it has gone far astray.

According to some commentators, never in the history of the Catholic Church has a Pope had to issue so dramatic a call to his bishops and priests to cease and desist from the destruction of dogma through novelties and resume teaching as the Church has always taught.

So when will this diabolical orientation end? When will the Pope’s suffering at the hands of his own bishops and clergy, not to mention the world, be alleviated? We know the answers:

When Russia is consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary according to Our Lady of Fatima’s instruction.

When the full text of the Third Secret is revealed.

We have arrived at a crucial point in history in which human prudence, no matter how well intended, will not suffice to save us from destruction, both physical and spiritual. We need Heaven’s help. And we have been offered Heaven’s help. Why not take it?

From May 3 through May 7, 2010, the Fatima Center, with the sponsorship of the Most Reverend Dr. Joseph R. Rodericks, S.J., Ph.D., Emeritus-Bishop of Jamshedpur, India, and the Most Reverend Dr. S. Michael Augustine, Archbishop Emeritus, Archdiocese of Pondicherry and Cuddalore, is convening in Rome a congress of the world’s Fatima experts.

Our aim? To bring the only solution to the problems that beset the Church and the world into the public spotlight. And to do this before the Holy Father travels to Fatima to mark the 93rd anniversary of the first apparition on May 13, 1917.

The conference is called The Fatima Challenge. We have invited those who realize the importance of the Fatima Message to come, to speak, to listen, to learn, and, most importantly, to urge the Holy Father and the bishops to do what Our Lady asks to save us and our suffering world.

We have invited those who disagree with us and claim the Consecration of Russia has been done and the full Third Secret revealed to come and present their arguments in a spirit of fraternal charity. We are all of the same faith, if not of the same mind, and we trust that the truth will emerge from a forum based on good will and good faith.

One of our chief opponents, Giuseppi De Carli, who assisted Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone in producing his book, The Last Secret of Fatima, will be there. We have invited Cardinal Bertone himself, but he has yet to respond.

Christopher Ferrara, author of The Secret Still Hidden, will be on hand to dispute De Carli’s claims. Some lively and, we hope, fruitful exchanges may result.

Father Nicholas Gruner, head of the Fatima Center and author ofWorld Enslavement or Peace, will address the conference, as will Father Paul Kramer, editor of The Devil’s Final Battle. Several other distinguished writers and commentators are coming to the conference. (See:

When the conference begins, the above web site will go live with broadcasts of the talks and debates. You can follow the developments of this historic event on a daily basis. And you can be a part of it, too, by submitting your questions and concerns for our panel of experts. Just click on and go to the Crossfire logo, click and ask your question.

We cannot stress how important this conference is. It represents the boldest undertaking to date in the history of our 33-year apostolate. So, we are asking for your all-out support: spiritually — with your prayers, especially your Rosaries — and, if possible, financially. You may donate to help finance the conference by filling out the donation form at

This crisis in the Catholic Church and the world cannot continue. We must all enlist in Our Lady of Fatima’s cause to end it with Her Triumph.

Latest Fatima Perspectives by

Christopher A. Ferrara

“Friendly Reflections?” A Summary of the Critique – “Friendly Reflections?” is a lengthy critique of arguments by one Antonio Borelli against the existence of a text of the Third Secret of Fatima that would accompany and explain, in the Blessed Virgin’s own words, the vision of “the Bishop dressed in White” published on June 26, 2000. The title of the critique is a play on the title of Borelli’s piece, which purports to provide “friendly reflections” on the Third Secret controversy in the spirit of promoting unity among Catholics. But, as the critique demonstrates, Borelli’s “friendly reflections” — no matter what his subjective intention may have been — seem calculated to disrupt the unity that already exists among faithful Catholics who have studied the controversy, considered the evidence, and arrived at the conclusion so candidly expressed by Mother Angelica on live television a year after the vision was published.

The Last Days of Cardinal Kasper – Examines the fast-approaching end of the “ecumenical” career of Cardinal Walter Kasper, as reported in an article by The National Catholic Reporter’s John Allen. The Cardinal’s penchant for undermining Catholic dogma (for example, his denial of the historical reality of the apostolic succession and his call to “revisit” Pope Leo XIII’s infallible proclamation on the invalidity of Anglican priestly orders) has been a focus of this column for years.

The Liturgy and the World – In an interview with the Italian journal Il Foglio, the head of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Antonio Cardinal Canizares-Llovera, made some astonishing remarks on the state of the Catholic liturgy today, after more than forty years of post-Vatican II “renewal,” and on the Pope’s historic decision to free the Latin Mass from the pseudo-prohibition that had been unjustly imposed upon it in the name of the Second Vatican Council.
