Defending the Catholic Faith
by Father Nicholas Gruner, S.T.L., S.T.D. (Cand.)
“Against a fact there is no argument” and Father Gruner uses the very words of Pope Benedict XVI (when he was still Cardinal Ratzinger) to remind us we are in the midst of the worst crisis in Church history. When reading about “the politics of hate” you will find that even supporters of EWTN are ashamed of their vicious attacks against Father Gruner. Yet “there is still hope” and Father Gruner invites you to read the other articles in this Crusader to find out how you can make a difference.

Shrine Authorities Disrupt Pilgrimage of Reparation
by John Vennari
This Pilgrimage of Reparation should have inspired the thousands who travelled to Fatima in response to the desecration of the Fatima Shrine that occurred on May 5, 2004. Instead, they were forced to rise to the challenge of Shrine authorities who tried to disrupt this pre-approved pilgrimage to the Shrine. This first-hand report is a positive reinforcement of how standing together in defense of Our Lady of Fatima and Her Message overcomes those who are attempting to prevent Her Triumph.

St. Teresa of Avila - Catholic Mystic
From Pilgrimage Lectures of Edwin Faust
A featured guest on this pilgrimage, Edwin Faust, a superb storyteller, brought to life the Carmelite mystic Saint Teresa. Following in her footsteps, the pilgrims discovered her as a person, with human frailties, and how she rose above these imperfections. Another saint, who also suffered for Carmelite reform, was included in the lecture series produced during the pilgrimage – Mr. Faust explained how St. John of the Cross used his persecution to produce some of his most magnificent poetry. This contribution to the pilgrimage by Edwin Faust was much appreciated by the pilgrims.

Fatima Shrine Officials Scandalize Pilgrims
by Tom Massett
The Capelinha has changed in the last 35 years since Mr. Massett’s last visit to Fatima. Since then, it has lost its warmth. Fatima and Aljustrel have become commercialized. But none of this deterred the bishops, priests, men and women religious, and lay people who journeyed there in response to the desecration of this holy site. The actions of certain shrine officials and employees were meant to be a deterrent but failed. The events of that day made Mr. Massett both sad and glad. Will reading this article make you feel the same way?
