“Michael, Michael of the morning,
Fresh corps of Heaven adorning,
Keep me safe today,
And in time of temptation
drive the devil away.”
A daily prayer to Saint Michael
September 29, 2010
Saint Michael the Archangel
Dear Friend of Our Lady,
You may have seen in the past the enclosed letter written by an American soldier to his mother in 1950, after he was injured in combat during the Korean War. The letter came into the hands of a Navy Chaplain, who read it to 5,000 Marines at a San Diego Naval Base in 1951.
The Navy Chaplain, Father Walter Muldy, had spoken to the soldier, the soldiers mother and to the Sergeant in charge of the patrol. Father Muldy would always assure anyone who asked that this is a true story.
This letter had been read once a year in the 1960s at a Midwestern radio station at Christmas time. It eventually came to be known as The Story of Michael.
We sent this moving story to our volunteers about seven years ago. It is the type of story one does not tire of reading and relaying to others.
You will notice that in his letter the soldier refers to a prayer to Saint Michael that his mother had taught him as a small child.
Since the soldier only conveys the beginning of the prayer in the letter, those who received The Story of Michael from us contacted us for the rest of the prayer. We were not able to find the whole prayer for a number of years.
Since September 29 is the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel, we thought it fitting to honor him by sending the whole prayer to you. Contrary to belief among non-Catholics or misled Catholics, it gives God great honor and glory when we pay homage to Our Lady, the holy angels and the saints.
The above-cited prayer is a very appealing, short prayer and one can understand the appeal to a child to learn such a prayer assuming the child is taught about the holy angels and how they are given by Heaven to help and protect us.
The young soldier himself conveys in his letter that he had always said the prayer, and did so even more when he was sent to Korea.
Childrens hearts are so open to learning and accepting things of Heaven. Much more so than our adult hearts. That is one reason why God hears their prayers more than ours.
It is important to start teaching children prayers from the time of their birth. They learn quickly and once they have learned a prayer, will likely never forget it.
In this time of great trials when the goal of the New World Order is to destroy the family and steal the souls of children away from God, we must do all we can to help and prepare them.
They should be taught about Saint Michael, who came from the second lowest rank of the nine choirs of angels — that of Archangels — and led the angels faithful to God in the great battle against Lucifer and the disobedient angels.
Lucifer was considered, before his fall, the most glorious, beautiful and most gifted of all the angels of Heaven.
We read of the battle in the Book of Apocalypse 12:7-9 :
“And there was a great battle in Heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought, and his angels. And they prevailed not: neither was their place found any more in Heaven. And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the devil and satan, who seduceth the whole world. And he was cast unto the earth: and his angels were thrown down with him.”
In reward for his zeal and fidelity, Saint Michael was made prince and commander-in-chief of all the heavenly legions. He rose from the choir of Archangels to the head of the nine choirs of angels.
True stories about Saint Michael and the angels will capture the hearts of children and they will be most anxious to memorize the prayer printed at the beginning of this letter.
Once a child has learned the prayer he will need little encouragement to pray it daily, thereby invoking the protection of the greatest of the Angels.
We have printed the prayer on the enclosed bookmark beneath the image of Saint Michael. On the back of the bookmark is the Prayer to Saint Michael which you are likely familiar with. It is often recited after praying the Rosary.
The military terminology used in both serve as reminders that we are the Church Militant fighting the battle against satan and his human minions here on earth. We are fighting under the standard of the Cross of Christ the King; fighting in union with the Church Triumphant, whose members are Saint Michael and the holy angels and the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints. We are engaged in battle for the salvation of souls.
Both in the Old and New Testaments, Saint Michael is called the guardian angel of the People of God. The Fathers of the Church are united in teaching that Saint Michael is the primary guardian angel and protector of the Catholic Church.
Saint Michael, at the command of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Angels, came to the assistance of Constantine the Great in the Fourth Century, and helped his forces gain a brilliant victory over the pagan Emperor Maxentius.
Saint Michael has appeared at different times to those who needed help and invoked his aid. One well authenticated example is his assisting Saint Joan of Arc in the extraordinary divine mission given her, to aid the French king in restoring peace and prosperity to his kingdom and expelling his enemies from its shores.
Innumerable spiritual and temporal blessings have been attributed to him from the earliest days of Christianity. There are countless stories in the history of the Church pertaining to Saint Michael coming to the rescue, when dreadful wars and persecutions threatened to destroy Christianity.
It is also generally believed by Fatima scholars that the Angel who appeared to Lucy, Francisco and Jacinta, in Fatima in 1916, was Saint Michael.
Saint Michael has numerous titles attributed to him. One of those titles is Guardian of the Pope. You may have heard that terrorists had plotted to attack the Pope during his visit to the UK earlier this month.
Remember Our Lady of Fatima said to pray a great deal for the Holy Father, he will have much to suffer.
Please teach the children you know to pray to Saint Michael asking for his intercession for the protection of the Holy Father.
According to Saint Alphonsus de Liguori, one of the most learned doctors of the Church, veneration of the holy angels, and particularly of Saint Michael, is an outstanding sign of predestination.
It is quite likely you have seen the latest issue of The Fatima Crusader, Issue 96.
Earlier in this letter, I mentioned the New World Order and the battle for the salvation of souls. If you have any doubts about how urgent the situation is please read, if you have not already done so, “Is the Antichrist Coming Next?” starting on page 3.

Once you have read this first article, you will want to read the rest. This issue continues to publish more very important talks given at The Fatima Challenge Conference in Rome this past May.
If you did not receive a copy of this issue from Father Gruner, or if you would like more copies to give to others, please call us at 1-800-845-3047.
In the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts,
|P.S.|| In the months following the Fatima Challenge Conference, we have noticed a considerable increase in requests via telephone, internet and through the mail for sacramentals, literature and information on the Message of Fatima. There seems to be a hunger out there — people are beginning to understand that something is wrong and they are searching for answers.
We attribute this first to the mercy of God and the intercession of Our Lady, and second to the Rosaries being said by you, other volunteers and supporters, as well as the sacrifices being offered for the conversion of sinners. Thank you.
