We need to understand that, already, in 1917 the world was very bad, if we are ever going to get a good perspective to set our moral standards straight. That is, people generally judge good and evil by the examples they see from their neighbors or their forefathers. We need to find the right role models. Otherwise, we shall follow bad example right to hell.
Quite likely youve seen the enclosed issue of The Fatima Crusader, Issue 71, before. It was first mailed in autumn of 2002. Our apostolate volunteers responded well to our appeals to help distribute this important issue.
This issue was written at the height of the unfolding of the homosexual scandals, erroneously referred to as pedophilia scandals (refer to page 16 of this issue for an explanation of this error), in the priesthood.
Father Gruner, Coralie Graham (editor of The Fatima Crusader) and others, felt the content of this issue was necessary in order to help relieve the confusion and embarrassment of Catholics by explaining the cause of this scandal in relation to the Message of Our Lady of Fatima.
In this issue, Father Gruner explains that this scandal is part of the chastisement foretold by Our Lady of Fatima if Her requests made of the Catholic faithful and hierarchy were not heeded.
He is referring to Our Ladys words If My requests are heeded, there will be peace; if not, Russia will spread her errors throughout the world, raising up wars and persecutions against the Church ...
It is two years since this issue was printed and many still hear daily, in news reports or in general conversation, about this horrible scandal, the effects of which continue to have ever-growing impact.
What are some of these effects?
1. Beautiful Catholic churches are being sold for the money which the Church is losing because of lawsuits initiated by the former victims (or families of the teen-age victims) of homosexual assault and seduction;
2. These churches are being desecrated by all sorts of secular usage tourist information centers, etc. this may help offset the financial woes of the Church, but in the long run, the spiritual chastisements will continue to increase as a result of this desecration of churches consecrated for the worship of God particularly because the desecration is caused by the Catholic hierarchy;
3. The Catholic Church and faithful, non-perverted Catholic clergymen are the victims of horrible jokes, ostracism, and maltreatment, instead of the respect due them for their elevated position given to them by God;
4. Catholics are questioning their faith, and are more hesitant, than ever before, to do their God-given duty of converting non-Catholics to the one true faith;
5. Catholics, in attempting to defend the faith, are unable to explain the reasons for the crisis in the priesthood, because of lack of knowledge and understanding as to why this has occurred.
Certainly there are more, but the aforementioned are some examples of the long-range effects caused by sin that is, the effects we can see. There are still those that we cannot see.
Since 2002, the persecution of the Church has advanced. Besides the continuing toll of the priest scandals, there is the heinous crime of the desecration of Catholic places of worship by members of non-Catholic creeds who are being allowed to perform pagan rituals or give heretical sermons in Catholic churches.
Again this is part of the persecution that Our Lady warned about. It will get worse. Why? Because many of the Catholic clergy and laity propose either totally secular solutions or solutions of the natural realm only, which are anything but what Our Lady of Fatima asked for.
God will be appeased and stop this persecution, this punishment, this chastisement of the Church, by one means only the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, together with the promise by the Pope, that upon cessation of the persecution of the Church, that he will promote the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays.
God, in His mercy, sent His Mother to give us a means to avoid this punishment over 75 years ago.
Today we are suffering the effects of the bad fruit produced by ignoring Heavens requests in effect, we are telling Our Lord and Our Lady that we know what is best rather than God knows what is best (though trying to heed Our Ladys requests, you and I nonetheless share the burden of our fallen brothers and sisters in Christ).
For our part, we must do what Our Lady has asked of us amend our lives, pray the Rosary every day, do the First Saturday Communion of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart, and offer up the sacrifices of our daily duty.
It is the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful that will eventually result in the Holy Father and the bishops doing the collegial Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
As a reminder of the necessity of prayer and of how powerful are the effects of prayer, here is a segment of the Papal Encyclical Octobri Mense written by Pope Leo XIII, dated September 22, 1891:
These are evils that cry aloud, that cry of themselves with a daily increasing voice. It is absolutely necessary that the Catholic voice should also call to God with unwearied instance, without ceasing (i.e. Pray without ceasing 1 Thes. 5:17); that the Faithful should pray not only in their own homes, but in public, gathered together under the sacred roof; that they should beseech urgently the all-foreseeing God to deliver the Church from evil men and to bring back the troubled nations to good sense and reason, by the light and love of Christ.
Of this the faithful of the Church in the East gave an example that should be offered to the imitation of posterity. Peter, Vicar of Jesus Christ, and first Pontiff of the Church, had been cast into prison, loaded with chains by the guilty Herod, and left for certain death. None could carry him help or snatch him from the peril. But there was the certain help that fervent prayer wins from God. The Church, as the sacred story tells us, made prayer without ceasing to God for him (Acts 12:5); and the greater was the fear of a misfortune, the greater was the fervor of all who prayed to God. After the granting of their desires the miracle stood revealed; and Christians still celebrate with a joyous gratitude the marvel of the deliverance of Peter.
Christ has given us a still more memorable instance, a Divine instance, so that the Church might be formed not upon His precepts only, but upon His example also. During His whole life He had given Himself to frequent and fervent prayer, and in the supreme hours in the Garden of Gethsemane, when His soul was filled with bitterness and sorrow unto death, He prayed to His Father and prayed repeatedly (Luke 22:41-43). It was not for Himself that He prayed thus, for He feared nothing and needed nothing, being God; He prayed for us, for His Church, whose prayers and future tears He already then accepted with joy, to give them back in mercies.
Together, then, let us follow the example of Our Lord, Our Lady, our faithful Catholic ancestors, and heed St. Pauls Divinely-inspired exhortation to pray without ceasing.
Let us heed the requests made by Our Lady of Fatima and pray the Rosary every day: to remain faithful to God and our Holy Catholic Faith, to obtain peace in the world, for the Holy Father and all Catholic clergy that they may heed the requests made by Our Lady of Fatima, for the conversion of sinners, and for the consecration and conversion of Russia.

In the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
P.S.Many of you in the past year have sent letters of support and encouragement as well as letters with questions. We thank you for taking the time to offer your support and encouragement. To those who have sent letters with questions, we ask your patience, we are trying to answer them as quickly as possible, but responding has been delayed partly due to the amount of time working for Our Lady has required me, and others, to be traveling.
P.P.S.Thank you to all who were able to join us in August and September for the month of reparation for the desecration of the Fatima Shrine (and other places of Catholic worship), etc.
