Re: October the Month of Our Lady

Dear Volunteer,

I am writing this letter to you from Spain, while Joanne continues to answer the volunteer department phone lines and process the volunteer orders (perhaps one of them is yours).

Last week I arrived at our office in Fatima, Portugal to do some work. Mainly, to distribute free literature -- the Portuguese version of Chronology of a Cover-up and a new leaflet advertising the book, The Devil’s Final Battle in Portuguese.

This week I joined our apostolate’s pilgrimage group as they were leaving Fatima and heading to Spain and Lourdes. Now a few days into our pilgrimage, I am once again reminded of how fortunate you and I are to know Our Lady’s Fatima Message.

Imagine living in the small maritime town of Rianjo, Spain and not knowing about one of the most significant events pertaining to the Message of Fatima which took place right in your own home town.

You may recall that in 1931, Sister Lucy was ill and was sent by her superiors to Rianjo to rest and be away from people. One evening while praying in the Rianjo chapel (a chapel dedicated to Our Lady) for the conversion of Spain, Portugal, Europe, Russia and the whole world, Our Lord spoke to her.

Our Lord said to her, “You please Me very much by praying for the conversion of those countries. Ask this grace also of My Mother”. He then dictated two prayers to her.

The first prayer Our Lord gave her is: “Sweet Heart of Mary, be the salvation of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe and the whole world.”

The second one is: “By Thy pure and Immaculate Conception, Of Mary, obtain for me the conversion of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe, and the whole world.”

After dictating these prayers to her, Our Lord said, “Make it known to My ministers, given that they follow the example of the King of France in delaying the execution of My command, they will follow him into misfortune.”

These are very serious and terrifying words. The Kings of France refused for 100 years to obey Our Lord’s request to consecrate France to His Sacred Heart. It was 100 years to the day that the reigning king was stripped of his power, and four years later he was executed by the guillotine.

Had the King of France obeyed Our Lord’s request, not only would his life have been spared, but all of France would have avoided the masonically-planned French Revolution.

Thus, in referring to the execution of the King of France, Our Lord was warning the Pope and the Catholic Bishops of a severe chastisement that would befall them if they ignored the request for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Our Lord further stated that “They (the Pope and the bishops) will do it, but it will be late” and finished with a message for us by saying, “It is never too late to have recourse to Jesus and Mary.”

Referring to my earlier statement, imagine not knowing that Our Lord had appeared in your home town and revealed something of great importance for the safety of the Holy Father and the Catholic Bishops, as well as something for the priests and laity to hope for (the consecration of Russia will be done).

When we arrived in Rianjo, it became apparent by the stares of the local inhabitants that they were not accustomed to too many tourists visiting their town (There were no other tourists or tour buses).

In order to visit the Rianjo chapel where this apparition took place, it was necessary to find the caretaker of the chapel, to unlock it.

Mary, our apostolate tour overseer, having been to Rianjo numerous times before, knew exactly where this caretaker, a deaf, mute woman, lived. Initially we were unable to locate her, for it seemed she was not at home.

Some of the woman’s neighbors, without having been asked, graciously came forward and helped us to find her. In our search, we were led to the local parish church, and the parish priest.

Once we found the caretaker and were let into the chapel, the parish priest came to greet the entire group of pilgrims and invited us to see the parish church. He asked questions regarding our visit there. He knew something had happened in this town, pertaining to Sister Lucy, but did not know what.

This is the priest of the town where a significant apparition occurred and yet he was in ignorance of the apparition and Our Lord’s important warning for the Catholic Hierarchy.

How sad to have something of such importance to our Catholic Faith occur in the very place one is living and not know of it. The sadness is all the greater because it is the shepherd of the local flock who is in ignorance.

Here are some of the other highlights of this pilgrimage which you may find of interest.

We went to Covadonga, Spain. Here is what happened there: Between 711 and 715 A.D., the entire Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) was completely overrun and dominated by the Muslims.

In Covadonga (which is a valley completely surrounded by mountains) there was a small, remaining group of Catholics who were totally surrounded by the Muslims and about to be conquered by them.

The Catholics had two choices -- either surrender and agree to apostatize by converting to Islam, or fight against impossible odds (humanly speaking) and remain Catholic. The Catholics decided to fight, but first they prayed to Our Lady and asked for Her help.

Against all odds, within a short time they withstood the attack by the Muslims and drove them back. But it was because Our Lady had sent the Angels. Many of the Catholics reported seeing the Angels with swords drawn.

Another wonderful place was in Zaragoza, Spain. There is a Cathedral called Our Lady of the Pillar. In the time while St. James the Apostle was still alive (before 44 A.D.) and before Our Lady was Assumed into Heaven -- St. James was in Spain and was discouraged by the lack of response to his attempts to convert the natives of the Iberian Peninsula.

In order to console him, Our Lady came to him, in bi-location. When She appeared to him, She was standing on a pillar. Centuries later a Cathedral was built around the site of the pillar Our Lady stood on when She appeared to him. The pillar is still there today.

In the 20th Century, modern science attempted to find the depth of the pillar, but gave up after testing showed it went more than one mile into the ground, with no end in sight.

Samples of the pillar were scientifically analyzed and it was determined that the substance of which the pillar is composed is indigenous only to the Holy Land. There is no material like it in all of Spain or in Europe.

In 1936, during the Spanish Civil War, 3 bombs were dropped on the Cathedral. None of the bombs exploded. These bombs hang on the wall in the Cathedral and are still unexploded.

What terrific examples we have to remind us that prayer and things of God are more powerful than guns and bombs.

As we head toward the time of increasing chastisements, you and I must hold fast to our Catholic Faith. We must ask Our Lady to remind us of the above-related examples of the power of prayer and things of Heaven (and the many others Heaven has given to us).

We need to ask Her for the grace to daily continue praying at least 5 decades of the Rosary, and remain under Her protective mantle by faithfully wearing the Brown Scapular at all times.

This month, in honor of Our Lady of Fatima, we are sending you a lovely 5x7 picture of Her. On the back is a brief explanation of the Message of Fatima.

Once again, we ask you to help us make known Her Message and heed the request of God by helping to establish devotion to Her Immaculate Heart. We pray that giving this lovely picture of Her to others will help you to do that.

In the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Joanna Swords

P.S.In the month of September you and our other volunteers distributed 143,222 pieces of literature and 35,261 sacramentals; you made 2,287 Rosaries and 10,282 Green Scapulars.
