Re: The "Divine Impatience"

Dear Father,

We are most pleased to be able to send you a copy of the book, "The 'Divine Impatience'" with this letter.

You can easily understand our gratitude to God each time we are able to distribute information about Our Lady's Fatima Message to bishops, priests, religious and laity around the world. Many are not acquainted with the specific roles they have been called by God to fulfill in this vital message for our time.

Yet, in sending this book to you, we also feel a degree of anticipation. Why? Because the information contained within this book is so vital and so urgent that we are certain that reading it may well be a turning point in your life.

In October of 1992, The Fatima Center sponsored the first International Bishops Conference, which represented one of the largest private gatherings of Catholic bishops in history, and the first ever convened for the express purpose of discussing the Fatima Message.

When this conference was held in 1992, interest in Fatima (especially among bishops and priests) was almost non-existent. To many, Fatima was merely a historical footnote.

Since that first conference, one-quarter of the world's bishops have explicitly or implicitly acknowledged their willingness to consecrate Russia as Our Lady asked.  That is one in four bishops, thanks in no small part to that conference and the four others sponsored by The Fatima Center since then.

Thousands of priests and religious have since joined this crusade to bring the Church and world protection under the Blessed Virgin's mantle.

By bringing together and inspiring thousands of influential clergy and lay people, this apostolate has helped put Fatima back on the lips and in the hearts of millions of Catholics.

But while rejoicing over the success the conferences achieved, by no means was it intended that the influence attributed to them should wane.  Rather, it was desired that everyone could benefit from the experience of these conferences.

Though these conferences had been fruitful, it was recognized that there are still many bishops, priests, religious and laity who have not been given the full Fatima Message.

With this in mind, "The 'Divine Impatience'", which contains the speeches that were given at the 1992 Bishops Conference, was compiled and published.

Since its publication in 2000, this book has had quite a far-reaching and powerful impact, bringing to individuals the excellent speeches they missed at the 1992 conference.

Unique in the annals of Fatima literature, it provides what is surely one of the best and most comprehensive overviews EVER published on Our Lady's request for Russia's consecration.

Filled with fresh viewpoints and startling new perspectives, "The 'Divine Impatience'" offers POWERFUL EVIDENCE of the necessity of heeding Our Lady's request, and heeding it now.

Which is why, upon reading this book, you will quite possibly be moved to act upon the information that you will find in it, recognizing its contents to be of the utmost importance.

The Fatima Message contains requests for every person, no matter his status as lay person, priest, bishop, or even Pope.

This book is concerned most of all with the request that was addressed to the bishops of the Catholic Church. It speaks of the request Our Lady made for their participation, with the Holy Father, in the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

That request has not been fulfilled as Our Lady requested, a fact that even Pope John Paul II has acknowledged repeatedly, in public!

The world is being punished, as Our Lady predicted, because Her requests have not been heeded. War and natural disasters continue to take lives every day, and man alone can do nothing to avert the ongoing chastisement.

Yet God, in His mercy, gave us a way to attain peace, and it costs us nothing financially. But it involves the cooperation and participation of all Catholic Bishops in a simple but profound act of consecration.

The peace of the world depends upon this act.

So what can we do?  As priests of the Holy Catholic Church, God has chosen us to direct portions of His flock.  As such, our knowledge of the Fatima Message and its necessity for the salvation of souls and peace in the world is of grave importance.

Since we have the means to reach out to millions of Catholics, it is up to us to impart this message to those whom God has placed under our care, and promote the practice of those things which Our Lady asked of all Catholics.

That is, amend our lives, pray the Rosary every day, make sacrifices for sinners, do the First Saturdays Communion of Reparation, wear the Brown Scapular.  These are the means given by Heaven for the salvation of souls and peace in the world.

According to St. Padre Pio, when enough of the Catholic faithful are doing what Our Lady of Fatima asked of them, then the graces will be given for the Holy Father and the bishops to do the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary according to the instructions given by Heaven to Sister Lucy of Fatima (who just died at age 97 on February 13, 2005).

We encourage the faithful to heed Our Lady's requests for their own salvation and the souls of sinners.  We similarly do all we can to promote the practice of devotion to the Immaculate Heart, especially the First Saturdays.  All of us can also encourage the faithful to petition the Holy Father to call for the Consecration of Russia.

Simultaneously, while petitioning the Holy Father we can encourage the faithful to also petition the bishops to approach the Holy Father.  Let us ask the bishops to let the Pope know of their desire for him to call for the Collegial Consecration of Russia as well as pledging their support.

Some people may think that petitioning the Holy Father and the bishops is "out of line" or an "insult" or an action that is "against" the Pope and bishops.  We assure you that this is not the case.

You may recall the words of Our Lord to Sister Lucy in August 1931 at Rianjo, Spain, "Make it known to My ministers, given that they follow the example of the King of France in delaying the execution of My command, like him, they will follow him into misfortune."

Jesus is referring to King Louis XVI who was imprisoned 100 years after Our Lord had commanded his predecessor, King Louis XIV, through St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the solemn public Consecration of France to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  For 100 years the Kings of France ignored Our Lord's request.  After being imprisoned for four years, King Louis XVI was executed as a common criminal.

Given these facts, it is clear that petitioning the Holy Father and the bishops for the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a very important act of fraternal charity in trying to save their lives and possibly even their souls.

For our sole purpose in this life is to do all for God's glory and honor -- by doing His will and obeying His commands -- and to strive for the eternal salvation of souls -- our own, and those of our brethren.

Do you still need more proof that petitioning our Catholic hierarchy is most useful and possibly even a necessary thing to do? Then please consider this. Pope Pius XII, when the faithful petitioned him, was not offended.

On the contrary, for the infallible declaration of the Dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he showed his approval of their petitioning by heeding this request of the faithful. Pope Pius himself declared that the reason he defined the Dogma of the Assumption was, (among other things) because of the petitioning of the faithful.

This book, "The 'Divine Impatience'" will prove to be a helpful tool in your endeavor to inform yourself of what God and the Blessed Virgin have asked of the Catholic hierarchy in the Message of Fatima.

Once you have read and reflected upon its contents, we feel confident that you will recognize the necessity and urgency of the Message of Fatima, and the place of importance God has given you in it.

As a Catholic priest, a shepherd of souls, God has placed a grave responsibility upon your shoulders. We pray that He may grant you the graces you need, so that you may fulfill the duties of your office, including the responsibilities that He has clarified to be yours in the Fatima Message.
