- WHY FATIMA
- FATIMA CENTER
- PRAYER & DEVOTION
Fort Erie: April 5, 2005
The Fatima Center joins with Catholics worldwide offering prayers for the soul of Pope John Paul II. The need for our prayers is clear as the Papacy is the greatest responsibility that any human being can undertake and Almighty God demands more from His “servant of the servants of God” than from any other man. We must never forget that the Message of Fatima tells us that we must “pray, pray a great deal for the Holy Father”.
Pope John Paul II visited Fatima three times. He credited Our Lady of Fatima for saving his life at the 1981 assassination attempt. He beatified the Fatima children, Blessed Jacinta and Francisco Marto.
He was also known for his resistance to Communism, and for his consistent defense of the unborn and the aged. He twice consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for which we must be grateful. The world will have received countless blessings as a result of this pious act.
The Fatima Center notes reluctantly, however, that Pope John Paul II never consecrated Russia by name, as Our Lady requested, nor did all the world’s bishops join him in such a consecration. Pope John Paul twice publicly acknowledged that this consecration has yet to be done. It appears he did all he thought he could do in the circumstances.
Our eyes now turn to the upcoming conclave and the new Papacy. Let us offer prayers and sacrifices that a Pope will be chosen who also burns with a great love of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who will be committed to the full Fatima Message, and who will soon consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart, in union with the world’s bishops, as Our Lady of Fatima requested.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
The Fatima Center, home of “The Fatima Crusader”, is the world’s largest Fatima apostolate campaigning for the promotion of the full Message of Fatima, for the release of the entire Third Secret and for the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is headed by Father Nicholas Gruner, who has spent more than 27 years of his priesthood promoting the Fatima Message. Its outreach includes the print media, Internet, Radio and Television.
